ප්‍රකට ආර්ථික විද්‍යාඥයෙක් සහ දේශපාලන ක්‍රියාකාරිකයෙක් වන ග්‍රීසියේ හිටපු මුදල් ඇමති යානීස් වරුෆකීස් (Yanis Varoufakis ) විසින් රචිත Talking to My Daughter- A Brief History of Capitalism කෘතියේ සිංහල පරිවර්තනය වන “දුවට කියන කතාවක් – ධනවාදයේ කෙටි ඉතිහාසය” ලෙස කෘතියක් විප්ලවවාදී ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමය විසින් පරිවර්තනය කර ඊයේ (ජුනි 02) එළිදක්වන ලදී. කොළඹ ජාතික පුස්තකාල ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේදී සිදු කෙරුණු මෙම අවස්ථාවට විශ්වවිද්‍යාල සිසුන්, ආචාර්යවරුන්, කලාකරුවන්, වෘත්තීය සමිති හා බහුජන සංවිධාන නියෝජිතයන් ඇතුළු පිරිසක් සම්බන්ධ විය.
පෙරටුගාමී සමාජවාදී පක්ෂයේ අධ්‍යාපන ලේකම් පුබුදු ජයගොඩ, ආචාර්ය කල්ප රාජපක්ෂ, කථිකාචාර්ය සුමිත් චාමින්ද හා විප්ලවවාදී ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ ජාතික සංවිධායක මංගල මද්දුමගේ මෙහිදී මූලික අදහස් දැක්වීම් සිදු කරනු ලැබූ අතර පැමිණි පිරිස අතර විවෘත සංවාදයක් ද පැවැත්විණි.
වත්මන් ආර්ථික අර්බූදය, ජාත්‍යන්තර මූල්‍ය අරමුදල (IMF) මගින් යෝජිත වැඩපිළිවෙලේ ජනතා බලපෑම මෙන්ම වත්මන් පාලකයින් මෙන්ම ආර්ථික විද්වතුන් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ආර්ථික කථිකාවේ ව්‍යාජත්වය පිළිබඳ කියැවෙන මෙම කෘතිය කාලීනව ඉතා වැදගත් සමාජ සංවාදයක් ඇති කිරීමට සමත් වනු ඇත. කෘතිය රචනා කළ යානීස් වරුෆකීස් 2015 ග්‍රීසියේ ඇති වූ සයිරීසා ආණ්ඩුවේ මුදල් ඇමතිවරයා වීමත්, ලංකාව මෙන් ම ග්‍රීසිය ද බරපතල ආර්ථික බිඳවැටීමකට ලක්ව තිබීමත්, එම අත්දැකීම් පාදක කරගෙන මෙම කෘතිය රචනා වී තිබීමත් විශේෂත්වයකි.
A Sinhala translation of the book ‘Talking to My Daughter- A Brief History of Capitalism’, written by the famous economist and political activist Yanis Varoufakis, the former finance minister of Greece, was translated to Sinhala and published by the Revolutionary Students’ Union. The book launche hel yesterday (2nd of June) at the Library Services & Documentation Center, Colombo 7 participated by University students, lecturers, artistes, representatives of trade unions and mass organizations.
Pubudu Jayagoda, Education Secretary of Frontline Socialist Party, Dr. Kalpa Rajapakse of University of Peradeniya, Sumith Charminda the Lecturer of Colombo University and Mangala Maddumage, National Organizer of Revolutionary Student Union made initial comments and an open dialogue was held with the participation of the attendees.
The current economic crisis, the program proposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its affects to the public iand the falsity of the economic discourse presented by the ruling cass and capitalist economists was discussed. In that sphere of discussion, the book by Varoufakis translated to Sinhala will be able to create a very important social dialogue within the island. It must be specially noted that the author of the book, Yanis Varufakis, was the finance minister of the Syriza government that was formed in 2015, during the crisis of Greece. The European nation, like Sri Lanka, has suffered a serious economic collapse, and this book was written by Yanis Varoufakis, the then Minister of Finance based on his own experiences.
