කෑගල්ල රෝහලේ වෛද්‍යවරියක්, covid-19 positive වූ පසු මුහුණ දුන් සිද්දීන් පිලිබදව තැබූ සංවේදනීය සටහනක්:

මාගේ ආදරණිය මිතුරනි,
ඔබ දැනටමත් දන්නවා ඇති මා, මගේ සැමියා සහ පුතා ඔක්තෝබර් 11 covid positive වූ බව. මා සහ මාගේ පුතා IDH රෝහලට යැවූ අතර, මාගේ සැමියා රබුක්කන රෝහලට යවන ලදී.

අපිව ඉතා හොදින් බලාගන්නා IDH රෝහලේ කාර්යමණ්ඩලයට, මගේ හදපිරි ස්තුතිය පුදකරමි. මාව සහ පුතාව attached bathroom එකක් තියන තනි කාමරයකට අනුයුක්ත කර ඇත. කම කෑම, බීම, තේ, සබන් ආදී සියලු දේ ඔවුන් විසින් ලබා දේ. මෙහි කාමර 150ක් ඇති අතර ඒවා සියල්ලම වාගේ, රෝග ලක්ෂණ නොමැති හෝ මද වශයෙන් ලක්ෂණ ඇති පුද්ගලයින්ව, PCR positive වීම නිසා තබාගෙන ඇත. මට හැගෙන්නේ මේ නිසා, කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය අනවශ්‍ය ලෙස මහන්සි වෙන බවක් සහ, අනවශ්‍ය ලෙස මුදල්නාස්ති වීමක් සිදුවන බවක් (මා වැරදිනම් සමාවියයුතුයි). අවාසනාවකට මේ වනවිට අවශ්‍ය සහ අසාද්‍ය රෝගීන් වෙන්කර හදුනාගැනීමට නිසි වැඩපිළිවෙලක් නැ .

මාගේ PCR positive වුනු පසු විවිධ ආයතන වලින් මට විශාල දුරකථන ඇමතුම් ප්‍රමාණයක් ලැබුන. MOH, පොලිසිය(කෑගල්ල මාවනැල්ල දෙකෙන්ම), PHI,ග්‍රාමසේවක, infection control unit අදී ආයතන රැසකින්.මට තේරුනේ එම ආයතන අතර නිසි සන්නිවේදනයක් නැති බව. මොකද ඒ හැම කෙනාම එකම ප්‍රශ්න ටික නැවත නැවත අහන්නෙ.

මේ වනවිට මගේ දියණියන් දෙදෙනා (වයස 15 සහ 20) හිටියෙ ගෙදර. ඒ වෙලේ ඔවුන්ව බලාගන්ඩ උනේ servant ට. එයාගේ අතේ අස්ථියක් බිදිලා pop back slab එකකුත් දාගෙන ඉන්නේ.ඒ අයව හදිස්සියේ රාත්‍රියේ නිරෝදයනයට ගේනියාම ගැන සියලු දෙන කම්පනයට පත් උනා. ඔවුන්ව පත් කල අපහසුතාවයෙන්, covid-19 පාලනයේ අමානුෂික පැත්ත එදා දැකගන්නට ලැබුන. මගේ ලොකු දුව, බලාපොරොත්තු රැසක් සමග පසු දිනයේ A /L විභාගයට මුහුණ දෙන්න හිටියේ (3rd shy, අවසාන අවස්ථාව).

exam දවසෙ පාන්දර 12.50ට, army එකෙන් call කරල මට සැරෙන් කිව්ව, දුවව මාතරට අරන් යනවා කියල. දවසකට රුපියල් 7,500 ගානෙ ගෙව්වොත් හොටෙල් එකක ඉන්න පුළුවන්; එහෙම උනොත් විතරක් විභාගෙට යන්ඩ අවස්ථාව ලැබෙනවා කියල.
ඊලග දවසෙ විභාගෙට, රෑ 11 වෙනකන් පාඩම් කරලා නිදාගෙන හිටපු දුවව; ඒ වෙලේම ගිහින් මහා රෑ ඇහැරවල අරන් ගිහින් තිබ්බ.

ඇදුම්, පොත් සියල්ල අපහසුවෙන් තනියම අරගෙන, මුලින්ම ambulance එකකින්,පසුව බස් රථයකින්, හා නැවත තවත් ambulance දෙකකින් රැගෙන ගොස් තිබෙනවා.මම Dr.සංජීවට (RE Kegalle) දුරකථන ඇමතුමක් අරන් ඇහුවහම කිව්වේ, නිවසේදී නිරෝධායනය වීමට තමයි සැලසුම දීල තිබ්බේ කියල. පණිවිඩය හරියට අදාල පුද්ගලයින්ට ගිහින් නැහැ. ඔහුටයි, කෑගල්ල රෝහලේ අධ්‍යක්ෂක Dr.මිහිරිටයි මම වැඳ වැටුන. ඔවුන් විසින් නිලදාරීන් රැසකට දුරකථන ඇමතුම් රැසක් ගැනීමෙන් පසු යන්තම් දුවව උදේ 7 වෙද්දි නැවත ගෙදරට අරන් ගිහින් තිබ්බ. එයාට bio exam එක ලියන්ඩ තිබ්බෙ එදාම හවස 1ට.

රෑ එළිවෙනකන් නිදි මරමින් මා හට උදව් කල Dr.සංජීවට (RE Kegalle), කෑගල්ල රෝහලේ අධ්‍යක්ෂක Dr.මිහිරි, GMOA ඇතුළු සියලු වෛද්‍යවරුන්ට මගේ හදපිරි ස්තුතිය පුදකර සිටිමි. bio exam එකත් ලියන්ඩ බැරි වෙන විදිහට, මාතරට නිරෝදයනයට අරන් යන්ඩ හදපු එක නවත්තපු එක හොද තීරණයක්. මට මෙයින් ඉස්මතු කරන්න ඕන උනේ, covid පාලනයේදී මානුෂිය පැත්තත් සිතිය යුතයි.

කායිකව ප්‍රතිකාර කිරීම පමණක් නෙවෙයි, මානසික තත්වය ගැනත් සිතිය යුතුයි. දෙවියන් වහන්සේ ගැන ඇති විශ්වාසය නිසා මම මෙහිදී මානසිකව වැටිලා නැ, අනෙක් අය සහ මගේ ආදරණිය රට වෙනුවෙන්, මම මගේ ඉරණම බාරගන්න ලෑස්තියි. සියලු දේට දෙවියන් වහන්සේට ස්තුති. අප වෙනුවෙන් අනුකම්පාව දැක්වූ සියලු දෙනාට ස්තුති. අහිංසක රෝගීන්ට ප්‍රතිකාර කිරීමේදී, මිට වඩා වගකීමක් ගතයුතු බව මම දැඩිව විශ්වාස කරනව.

ජ්‍යෙෂ්ට වෛද්‍යවරියක් විදිහට මම විශ්වාස කරනවා, covid පාලනයට අදාල තීරණ ගැනීමේදී වෛද්‍යවරුන්ට ලොකු වගකීමක් තිබිය යුතු බව. මට අත් විදින්න වුන දේ මේ විදිහට සටහන් කරන්නේ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ට, විශේෂයෙන් තීරණ ගන්න පුටුවල සිටින අයට. මම මේ විදිහට මගේ අදහස් ඉදිරිපත් කරල මගේ රාජකාරිය නිසි ලෙස ඉටු කරනව.

My dear colleagues/ friends,
You all might know that I ,my husband and my son were Covid positive on 11th of October. My son and I were admitted to IDH on 12th of this month while my husband has been admitted to Rambukkana District hospital.
I am so grateful to the IDH staff who look after us very well. I and my son are in a single room with attached bathroom. They provide meals, tea, refreshments and even soap, tea leaves, heater etc.
I heard that there are around 150 beds here all of which are occupied by asymptomatic or mild symptomatic PCR positive patients. I feel the staff members are at times unnecessarily getting tired and exhausted to monitor these sort of cases and the health budget is wasted (sorry if I am wrong). *Unfortunately, our health sector has no proper system and policy to filter pts with SOB and give them special care while the asymptomatic patients to be monitored by local units
Once the announcement made as PCR positive, there were thousands of calls, asking same details from various places/officials such as CIDs, Police of kegalle and Mawanella, Army personals, Task Force, SIS, PHIs, MOH, GS, EPID Unit, Infection Control Unit , Hospital etc etc.
I realised that there were no proper communication networks or systems to contact positive patients in a simple way.
All the parties call for the collection of the same information several times.
My two daughters (15 and 20 years )who are at home with my servant (who had a Colle’s fracture two weeks back and on POP back slab) were planned to be taken to quarantine centers on the following day .
I know all the Doctors and Consultants got shocked hearing the steps taken to quarantine them overnight.
That was a real harassment and showing the inhumane side of our Covid 19 management.
My eldest daughter is sitting for the exam as (her last and ) third time this year, with much of expectations.
It was on 12th Monday 12.50 am when the Army personal called me n told harshly that they would come to take daughters to Nilwala Matara.
And He further said only if Rs 7500/= per day is paid to stay in Goggala hotel she would be able to sit the exams scheduled on the same day.
Army personnel see have gone to my home to pick them while my daugher was fast asleep after studying up to 11.00 at night.
They got up from sleep and packed books notes cloths and other things
They had to carry themselves all the books n things, first to an ambulance then to a bus and then to ambulance again and to another ambulance.
Initially taken to Kegalle from Mawanella and waited on the bus, at the end of the drama brought back home around 7 am in the morning after a drama of almost six hours. She was to write Bio exam on the same day at 1.00 p.m.
When I called Dr.Sujeewa(RE Kegalle) he said that they had informed the Captain regarding the plan of home quarantine, but
the information hadn’t reached the next level.
I begged him to help me and he had phoned to Dr Mihiri (Director GH Kegalle )
After an untiring effort taking so many calls to various officials she has successfully decided to return them home.
Thank you very much Dr.Sujeewa(RE) Dr Mihiri ( Director ), GMOA and all other doctors/ consultants who involved in this endeavour sleeplessly on the night.
It was a great decision and my gratitude will always be there for whoever tried to stop their journey to Matara (if that was the case, she would have missed her Bio exam!).
What I want to emphasise is that there should be a humanitarian way of managing humans whose health is considered not only physical set up but also mental and spiritual.
I am not really depressed because of all these events as I am morally healthy and happy believing the God of all human beings/ universe. I am happy to accept all the difficulties in view of saving other human beings and so my loving country.
Thank God for everything and thanks for all the people who emphathised with us and prayed for our wellbeing. I strongly believe that this will bring us multiple benefits in this life and especially in the hereafter.
I strongly feel that we as doctors have to take more responsibility in planning and managing the health affairs of innocent patients and people of our country by a well planned process of timely diagnosing, appropriate monitoring and correct following up.
Being a senior house officer I strongly believe and suggest that the doctors have a greater responsibility to fight against the current setup of Covid -19 management and involve in decision making process and learn and teach to survive with Covid 19 without fear to make a peaceful healthy nation.
These are my experience sharing to all doctors specially for doctors who are on leading chairs
