Even with regard to the recent incident of a suicide of a school girl, the response and lack of transparency by the Government has been problematic. Also, in cases like their attempt to curb the right to freedom of expression of journalists like Shantha Wijesuriya, it looks like this Government too, will follow in the same path as those before it.

We are demanding that you immediately backtrack from this path that disregards the expectations of the people. Otherwise, there is a serious risk that the political culture of the Rajapaksas, Wickremesinghes, and Premadasa’s will rise again.” – Nuwan Bopege
